HabitClock for Android

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026  ·  Applies to app version 1.1.0 and later

The short version: HabitClock does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no ads. The app works entirely offline.

1. Who this policy is from

This policy describes how the Android application HabitClock (package com.saptashwab.habitclock) handles information. In this document, "the app" means HabitClock, and "we" means the individual developer who publishes it. Contact details are at the end.

2. Information the app does not collect

HabitClock does not collect, request, or process any of the following:

The app requests no runtime permissions for accessing personal or sensitive data.

3. Information you create, and where it stays

You can enter habit information into the app. This content is created by you, for you, and never leaves your device.

What you enterWhere it is stored
Habit name, emoji, colour, type (good or bad), nudge intervalA local database on your device
Timestamps of when you last did or reset a habitA local database on your device
Home screen widget appearance settings (colours, sizes, visibility, custom message)A local database and Android's local app preferences store

All of this is held in the app's private storage area, which Android sandboxes so that other apps cannot read it. A small copy of the habit name, timestamp, and widget appearance settings is written to the app's own local preferences file so that the Android home screen widget can render without opening the app. This copy also never leaves the device.

4. No network transmission

HabitClock does not contain any code that sends your data anywhere. It has no backend server, no cloud sync, no backup service, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracking libraries. The app functions fully in airplane mode.

Android system backup

Android may include app data in the device-level backup that you have configured through your own Google account settings, if that feature is enabled on your device. That backup is controlled by Google and by you, under Google's own privacy terms — not by this app, and the developer has no access to it. You can turn device backup off in your Android system settings.

5. Permissions the app uses, and why

HabitClock declares a small set of Android permissions that support scheduled widget refreshes. None of them provide access to your personal information, and none of them are used to read, transmit, or share your data. The app never prompts you for a permission at runtime.

PermissionWhy it is declared
Run at startupRestores the widget refresh schedule after your device reboots, so widget timers stay accurate
Prevent device from sleepingLets a brief periodic background task finish keeping the widget in sync with the app
Run a foreground serviceRequired by the Android background-work library the app uses for its periodic sync task
View network connection stateDeclared by the same background-work library. The app does not use the network and does not transmit anything
Post notificationsDeclared by the background-work library. HabitClock never asks for this permission and never sends notifications, so it remains permanently ungranted unless you enable it yourself
Internal receiver protection (signature-level)A private, self-signed permission that restricts the app's internal system messages to HabitClock alone. It cannot be held by any other app

The app does not declare internet access and does not transmit your habit data anywhere.

6. Sharing and disclosure

Because no data is collected or transmitted, there is nothing to share. The developer does not sell, rent, trade, or disclose user data to anyone — including advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. No data is transferred to third countries, because no data is transferred at all.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your habit data remains on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. You are in full control of it:

Since the developer never receives your data, there is no server-side copy to request deletion of.

8. Children's privacy

HabitClock is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). As no data is collected from any user, no data is collected from children.

9. Your rights under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act give you rights over personal data that a company holds about you — including access, correction, deletion, and portability.

The developer of HabitClock does not act as a data controller or processor of any user data, because none is ever collected or received. Your habit information is under your direct control on your own device at all times, so you can exercise the equivalent of these rights yourself using the options in section 7. No consent is requested for data processing, because no processing takes place.

10. Security

Your data is protected by Android's application sandbox, which prevents other apps from reading HabitClock's private storage. Because nothing is transmitted, there is no transmission to intercept and no server that could be breached. As with any device-local data, we recommend keeping a device lock screen enabled and keeping your Android version up to date.

11. Changes to this policy

If a future version of HabitClock introduces a feature that changes how information is handled — such as optional cloud sync or backup — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
